President Bush's
address to the American public urging Saddam Hussein to leave Iraq is
nonsense -- all it does is pave the way Bush has already planned to go
to war. My thoughts on how we can avoid a senseless war with Iraq and
actually regain some confidence and goodwill in the world by
concentrating on conflicts that actually matter.
Someone recently made
the following remark to me (apropos Iraq): "Sometimes you have to trust
what the government is saying. You don't have all the information;
they do." My thoughts on that.
We're entering a new
millennium, and Dick Clarke's timeless face still accompanies us there.
Perhaps we should begin thinking of things beyond the champagne and how
to spell that bit from Auld Lang Syne about "a right guid
willie-waught"....
