The Coast and Cape Lookout

After a few days in Portland, we headed out to the Oregon coast by way of Cannon Beach to camp and hike at Cape Lookout, not far from Tillamook. The weather was very cooperative, and the hike turned up some absolutely spectacular views. The ground was moist, rich, black soil, covered with ferns and shaded by moss-covered evergreens. The trail was nice, wandering back and forth across the peninsula before ending at the cape, on a rocky cliff above the Pacific. This is one of the truly beautiful places in the world. (There's also an oceanfront brew pub a few miles to the south).
