Felicia and i went hiking on a beautiful Saturday in Big Sur. The
Fire Road trail is about 2½ miles up a ridge to the Tin House,
with an altitude change of about 500 feet. That's ... uh, pretty steep.

When we got up on the ridge, the Pacific was so calm and blue that we couldn't find the line between the ocean and the sky. |

We stayed on top of the mountain to watch the sun set over the Pacific, even though it meant hiking back in semi-darkness. It was worth it. |

This proves we were there. |

Even the mundane, ubiquitous fuzzy grass is transformed against the dwindling fire on the Pacific Ocean. |
